Born in Vietnam, Dr. Tran married his childhood sweetheart, Georgette and is the proud father of 6 children and enjoys numerous grandchildren. Dr Tran is fluent in English, Vietnamese and French.
In Vietnam, Dr. Tran served his country during the tumultuous war years as the Dean of the College of Veterinary Medicine in Saigon, and Undersecretary of Agriculture for the Republic of South Vietnam. responsible for elevating the quality of animal care and food production.
As noted in the forward to his globally published study on Agricultural Development in Vietnam, Dr. Tran was successively advanced to key positions serving the agriculture industry in Vietnam:
- Professor of Medicine at the College of Agriculture in Saigon
- Director of the Tan Son Nhat Livestock Experimental Station
- Chief of the Animal Production Service
- Assistant to the Director for Animal Husbandry (i.e. livestock health and breeding)
- Director of Cabinet, Minister of Land Reform and Agriculture
- UnderSecretary of Agriculture
Returning to the United States upon the fall of Saigon in 1975, Dr. Tran completed advanced Fellowship study at Oklahoma State University and then moved to Louisville, KY. Dr. Tran and his family are naturalized American citizens.
In Louisville, KY, Dr. Tran was the Chief Surgeon for a major practice in the region developing his extensive surgical and diagnostic skills. In 1982, Dr. Tran was asked by a group of Veterinarians to take over the operation of the Animal Emergency Center which had been built to handle the after-hours emergencies of the regions veterinary practices. Dr. Tran continued to develop his skills and handled more emergency cases than most Vets would ever see in a lifetime of practice over the next few decades.
In 1990, Dr. Tran began to look into other areas of medicine which could offer additional help for his patients. Dr. Tran began an extensive study in what was referred to in the U.S. as 'Alternative or Complimentary Medicine.' In the course of this study, Dr. Tran became the Lead Research Consultant in Small Animal Medicine regarding the use of nutraceutical and botanical medicine for small animals (i.e. cats, dogs and other household pets) for the leading nutraceutical manufacturer in the U.S., Morinda Corporation.
Today, Dr. Tran continues to offer his extensive knowledge and experience to pet owners in the Metro-Louisville area.
